Steven R. Fontes, MAI, CCIM serves as President of Mission Property Advisors, Inc. Mr. Fontes is one of a very limited group of individuals in the United States that has earned both the MAI appraisal designation and the CCIM brokerage designation.
Our brokerage division is led by the firm's President, Steven R. Fontes. Mr. Fontes has held the prestigious CCIM brokerage designation from the CCIM Institute since 2000. CCIM designated brokers are considered to be “the” recognized experts in the commercial and investment real estate brokerage industry.
Most commercial real estate brokers have little to no formal appraisal background. It is this background as an appraiser that has served his brokerage clients very well because of the vast experience Mr. Fontes has in valuing commercial property. Mr. Fontes draws on his 30 years of appraisal experience each time he helps a client with their commercial brokerage needs. To be clear, Mr. Fontes cannot and will not simultaneously appraise and broker the sale of a property. When he is brokering, that is all he is doing, but his client’s find a great deal of comfort in knowing that his appraisal background makes him supremely qualified to advise them on the “true value” of most any commercial property type. Mr. Fontes has held the prestigious CCIM brokerage designation from the CCIM Institute since 2000.
A CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) is a recognized expert in the commercial and investment real estate industry. CCIM’s are proficient not only in theory, but also in practice. This elite corps of CCIMs includes brokers, leasing professionals, investment counselors, asset managers, appraisers, corporate real estate executives, property managers, developers, institutional investors, commercial lenders, attorneys, bankers, and other allied professionals.
A CCIM is part of a global commercial real estate network with members across North America and more than 30 countries. This professional network has enabled CCIM members to close thousands of transactions annually, representing more than $200 billion in value. As a result, the experts who possess the CCIM designation are an invaluable resource for commercial real estate owners, investors, and users.
CCIMs have completed a designation curriculum that covers essential CCIM skill sets including ethics, interest-based negotiation, financial analysis, market analysis, user decision analysis, and investment analysis for commercial investment real estate. Finally, they have demonstrated their proficiency in the CCIM skill sets by successfully completing a comprehensive examination. Only then is a designation candidate awarded the coveted CCIM pin, joining the ranks of highly skilled commercial and investment real estate experts. More than 13,000 commercial real estate professionals have earned the designation. Currently, 3,000 professionals are pursuing their CCIM designation.
